How it works

Pass It On

Pass It On is the free corner of the Marketplace, where riders pass on gear they've outgrown or replaced to someone who can still get good use out of it. There's no payment and no selling — just good gear finding a second life and more riders getting out there.

Offering an item

  1. 1

You need an account to offer an item.

  2. 2

    Open Pass It On

Pass It On lives in its own tab in the Marketplace, and in the Explore menu.

  3. 3

    Describe what you're sharing

Add photos, a category and the condition, plus the size or bike it suits, so the right rider spots it.

  4. 4

Choose free or pay it forward

Offer it free, or as a pay-it-forward gesture — a nudge for the next owner to pass something on down the track.

  5. 5

Say how it can be collected

Note whether it's pickup only, can be posted at cost, or can be handed over at the track.

  6. 6

Mark it claimed when it's gone

Once the item has found a home, mark it claimed so it stops showing as available.

Claiming an item

  1. 1

    Browse what's on offer

Filter by category, condition or state to see what riders near you are passing on.

  2. 2

    Read the pickup details

Check where the item is and how the current owner would like it collected.

  3. 3

    Contact the lister

Use Contact seller to message them directly. No payment is involved.

  4. 4

    Arrange the handover

Agree a time and place with the lister, then collect the item.

  5. 5

    Pass it on again later

When you've outgrown it or upgraded, list it here again instead of leaving it in the shed.

Good to know

  • •Everything on Pass It On is free. If someone asks for money for a Pass It On item, report the listing.
  • •Only pass on gear that's safe to use. Helmets with an unknown history and damaged protective gear should be retired, not handed on.
  • •Pickup and postage are arranged directly between you and the other rider, just like any other Marketplace listing.
  • •Pass It On items don't appear in the main Marketplace, so browse the Pass It On tab to see what's available.

Frequently asked

Can I ask for postage to be covered?+

You can mention postage in the pickup details, and the new owner can cover the cost of sending it. The item itself stays free — anything beyond that belongs in a normal Marketplace listing.

What does pay it forward mean?+

The item is still free. It's simply a nudge for the new owner to pass something on to another rider when they can.

Does a Pass It On item show in the main Marketplace?+

No. Pass It On items have their own tab so free gear is easy to browse and separate from listings for sale.

Can I offer damaged gear?+

Only if it's safe and genuinely usable. Retire anything that could put another rider at risk, especially helmets and protective gear.
